Overview
Sant Tabs is a browser extension that helps you manage your browser tabs. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.
Summary: Sant Tabs is local-first. Free users have zero data transmission — everything stays on your device. Premium users can optionally enable Cloud Sync, which stores collections, schedules, and settings in Firebase (encrypted). You control what syncs, and you can delete all cloud data at any time.
Data Collection — Free Users
For free users, Sant Tabs does NOT collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. All features work 100% locally.
What We Don't Do (Free Tier)

- We do NOT send any data to external servers
- We do NOT use analytics or tracking tools
- We do NOT share any data with third parties
- We do NOT use cookies for tracking
What We Store Locally
Sant Tabs stores the following data locally on your device only using Chrome's built-in storage API:
- Preferences: Theme, view mode, and layout settings
- Window names: Custom names you assign to windows
- Custom rules: Sorting rules you create for organizing tabs
- Collections: Saved window sessions (tab URLs and titles)
- Scheduled items: Tabs and windows scheduled to reopen
- Tab usage stats: Anonymous, local-only analytics of your tab usage patterns
This data never leaves your device (unless you opt in to Cloud Sync), is not accessible to us or any third party, and can be cleared by uninstalling the extension.
Cloud Sync — Premium Feature (Opt-In)
Premium subscribers can opt in to Cloud Sync to synchronize data across devices. This is entirely optional and disabled by default.
What Syncs (when enabled)
- Collections (saved window sessions): Tab URLs, titles, and favicons
- Scheduled items: Your scheduled tab reopening times
- Settings/preferences: Theme, view mode, icon size, and similar UI preferences
What NEVER Syncs
- Open tabs or browsing history
- Tab usage statistics
- Window names
- Tab access times
- Passwords or form data
- Any data from web pages you visit
Third-Party Services (Premium Only)
When you use premium features, data may be processed by:
- Google Cloud / Firebase: Stores synced collections, scheduled items, and settings. Subject to Google Cloud Privacy Policy.
- Google Gemini AI (via Cloud Functions): The "Smart Organize" feature sends tab titles and URLs to Google's Gemini API to intelligently categorize your tabs. No page content is sent—only titles and URLs. Subject to Google AI Terms.
- Stripe (via ExtensionPay): Processes payments. Subject to Stripe Privacy Policy.
No data is shared with any other third parties.
Permissions Explained
- tabs: To read tab titles, URLs, and favicons for display in the extension. This information is only used locally and is never transmitted.
- tabGroups: To create and manage Chrome Tab Groups when you use the Smart Organize feature.
- storage: To save your preferences locally on your device.
- alarms: To schedule automatic tab suspension and scheduled tab reopening.
- identity: To enable Google Sign-In for premium features. Only used when you explicitly click "Sign in with Google."
- scripting: To extract page content for AI summaries and display in-page notifications.
Your Rights
You can:
- View all locally stored data via Chrome's developer tools
- Delete all local data by uninstalling the extension or clearing browser data
- Delete all cloud data from Settings (Premium)
- Disable Cloud Sync at any time to stop all data transmission
- Sign out to remove your Google account from the extension
- Request full account and data deletion by emailing hey@tabs.onl
